Become a Better Web Designer by Avoiding These Mistakes

There are some things that the website does not show.

This is something to keep in mind when business owners want a lead-churning website. Mobile menus look enticing on mobile devices but they might not look as good when viewed on a desktop.

Text links are critical in helping users navigate and learn their available options. Keeping them hidden makes a business lose the opportunity to give users a great experience.

The links on the website are too small to click.

Users can get easily frustrated and leave when they find it hard to click the small buttons found on mobile websites. At times, they end up on what seems like a crapshoot.

More often than not, the buttons and links are meant to be clicked by a computer mouse and not really for the user’s fingers. Since mobile traffic has increased to more than 60%, there should be more space so that links and buttons can easily be tapped and navigated to the page or action that users desire.

There are neither H1 headings nor H2 subheads on the website.

A lot of people glance at headlines and highlighted text to know and decide if they will stay or leave a web page.

A sentence that stands out can easily draw the attention of viewers. On the other hand, a website that has lots of text is difficult to skim for interesting content and can ruin user experience. Users will leave at once.

One more important reason why there should be headings and subheadings is for search engines to find the website. There are above 6,586,013,574 searches daily around the world. To rank higher in search engines, it is critical to have a helpful markup so bots can read and figure out what the page is all about. If this cannot be determined by a bot, it will be pushed down below, together with other search result pages that are hidden.

There are no contact details on the website that users can have access to.

When users land on a company’s homepage, 64% of them look for their contact information and 44% of them will leave when they could not find a phone number or other contact details.

The ultimate goal of user experience on a website is to make a conversion wherein the user gets in touch with the business. When there are no contact details like the number, address, email, contact form or contact page, among others, potential customers will become disappointed and leave the site. This is lost opportunity.

The website is not secured with HTTPS.

A website that is not secure can cause issues for search engines and careful website users alike. It is not important if a business does not have an eCommerce site. When asking for personal details whether it is an email address, phone number or first and last name, a website needs some form of security. Otherwise, search engines like Google will push it further downwards.
