21 Memorial Day Deals to Spruce Up Your Smart Home

Are you trying to outfit your house in cameras and lights that you can control with your voice? Or do you just want to make vacuuming, cooking, and streaming content a little easier? Either way, there’s a bunch of Memorial Day sales this weekend on products that can make your home a little smarter.

Updated May 29: We’ve added a few smart toothbrushes to the list and some extra retailer picks for several items. We also had to remove our robot vacuum picks and the Echo Show 8 due to their discounts ending.

Smart Accessories Deals

See our guides to the best security cameras and best smart plugs for more information and picks.

Arlo Q Security Camera for $65 ($15 off): When we first tried this camera, it ranged in price from $130 to $200. It’s since dropped to about $80 normally, because Arlo has released newer cameras, but we still like the Q. It’s compact and easy to use, and Arlo has a good reputation behind it.

TP-Link Kasa Spot Camera for $30 ($5 off): I really liked the Kasa cameras I tested, and they’re quite affordable. However, they don’t currently offer two-factor authentication. That’s probably OK if you’re not planning on putting these anywhere that they might capture sensitive footage and are more interested in short-term use like watching pets when you aren’t home.

Monoprice Stitch Smart Power Strip for $20 ($5 off): Smart power strips are really useful to control a bunch of things at once (or individually). This Monoprice one is affordable, too, and easy to figure out in the app. It has four outlets plus two USB ports, but the latter two are not controlled with the smart features.

Nest Learning Thermostat for $199 ($50 off): Installing a Nest thermostat can help you lower your heating and cooling bills. It’s smart features learn your habits so it can make adjustments automatically. Plus there’s rebates you can earn too.

Neato D7 Robot Vacuum for $450 ($150 off): We really enjoyed using this robot vacuum. It’s simple to set up, quiet, and as low-profile as a robovac can get. Plus you can control it with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or Siri.

Smart Speaker and Display Deals

We have roundups of the best smart speakers, Google speakers, soundbars, and smart displays.

Sony XB501G Speaker for $100 ($200 off): We’re fans of Google Assistant, and we particularly love this speaker for parties, which we can hopefully start having again soon. It has two drivers and a subwoofer in a small 9-inch cube. It’s also water-resistant (IP65) and has 16 hours of battery life. You can connect it to your Wi-Fi if you’re home, or use it with Bluetooth if you’re not. Plus there’s LEDs and mini strobe lights.

Yamaha YAS-209 Soundbar for $315 ($35 off) at Amazon, Target: This is a great soundbar for Alexa users. With a wireless subwoofer and room-filling virtual surround sound, it’s one of the best you can buy. It’s compatible with Spotify Connect and has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

Facebook Portal Mini for $90 ($39 off): We have to try to separate this cool little device from the social network that makes it. If you think you can do that, we think you’ll like it.

Nixplay 10.1-inch Smart Photo Frame for $135 ($45 off): We like Nixplay frames a lot and I preferred the matte finish of this one over its shiny 9.7-inch version. Read all our digital picture frame picks here.

Roku Deals

Roku Streaming Stick+

If you aren’t sure what you’re looking for yet, check out our guides on the best soundbars and on which Roku is right for you.

Roku Streaming Stick+ for $39 ($10 off) at Amazon, Target: This sale price is fairly common for the Streaming Stick, but it’s still the best price to nab it at. It’s our choice for most people looking for a new streaming device. It sticks right into your TV’s HDMI port, and a second cable plugs into the USB port for power. There’s dual-band Wi-Fi that has a longer range and can connect to 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz networks—this is particularly handy for apartment dwellers, where the many nearby Wi-Fi networks can interfere with your signal.

Roku Streambar for $99 ($30 off) at Amazon, Target: The Streambar is a very capable mini soundbar with Roku built right in. It’s pretty compact at just 14 inches long, so it should fit most people’s TV setups.

Roku Ultra for $69 ($31 off) at Amazon, Target: The updated Ultra is more expensive that most of the options besides the Roku soundbars, but it has stronger Wi-Fi and the ability to stream in Dolby Vision. It also has an Ethernet port and comes with earbuds that plug into the remote for private or nighttime viewing when you’re trying to be quiet.

Roku Express HD for $25 ($5 off) at Amazon, Target: This is a perfectly fine Roku if you have a standard HDTV. It has the basic Roku offerings, without some extras like voice search, and the remote can’t control your TV’s power or volume.

Amazon Fire Stick 4K for $40 ($10 off) at Amazon, Target: If you can’t tell, we much prefer Roku, but if you’re an Amazon fan, you should like the 4K Fire Stick. It works well, but just remember that the menus are heavily geared towards Amazon Prime content.

Electric Toothbrush Deals

Philips Sonicare for Kids

See our guide to our favorite electric toothbrushes before deciding.

Philips Sonicare for Kids for $40 ($10 off): Our kid tester liked using brush to keep her brushing for two minutes. She didn’t love the kid-specific app, but your kid might.

Oral-B Pro 1000 Electric Toothbrush for $45 ($5 off) at Walmart, Amazon: This is a classic toothbrush without all the smart bells and whistles that can be overwhelming when you just want to clean your teeth. It’s not the biggest discount, but it’s a good brush nonetheless.

Shyn Sonic Toothbrush for $50 ($5 off): This is another small discount but it was one of our writer’s favorite subscription toothbrush services.
