Data Natives x VentureBeat Transform – announcing our first expert speakers

It’s time to announce our first speakers at Data Natives x VentureBeat Transform, the week-long AI conference where we’ll be hosting half a day of amazing, educational content.

VentureBeat Transform 2021 takes place between July 12-16, 2021. The event is hosted online and includes a stellar cast of speakers and an array of great networking opportunities and side events, such as the Women in AI breakfast.

And we’re incredibly pleased to announce the first speakers for our Data Natives segment at Transform 2021. Not only do these amazing experts bring a wealth of specialized expertise to the stage, but they’ll also entertain and inspire you during two of our panel sessions.

Shamala Hinrichsen will be joining us for an inspiring panel discussion on “how AI is improving human outcomes now, and in the future.”

Shamala is a founder of Hanai, and is trained as a medical scientist with experience in corporate, research, and government. For the last 15 years she has been focused on relevant medical communication.

The panel will discuss how AI is in charge of decisions that impact people’s lives and decisions, and what is coming next. The stakes are high, and the rewards are great – how will you leverage the opportunities AI presents in 2021 and beyond.

Thorsten Dittmar and Juan Carlos Medina Serrano will be speaking on a panel about deep fakes, including the implications of video and audio manipulation with AI, and how society will combat this ever-present threat.

Thorsten started his computer science career in the early 80s when he had a 4 color Mohawk haircut and most of the computers where the size of a garage. He got in touch with PARC (Palo Alto Research Center, formerly Xerox PARC) and fall in love with Smalltalk – the first object-oriented programming language and the base of all graphical user interfaces. In early 2019, Thorsten founded his latest venture, that aims to give each individual back the sovereignty over their digital data, and in this way, supporting the flow of European data capital back into the local markets.

Juan is a data enthusiast (data scientist, data engineer, and ml engineer). He pursued a Ph.D. at the Technical University of Munich where his research focused on the spread of misinformation in social media and its effects on the political landscape. Juan Carlos has worked in data projects at companies such as BMW, Bosch, and Siemens. Currently, he is the Head of Data at the CSU, where he develops data-driven tools for the 2021 German Federal Election.
